A custom designed ATE for testing the wheel slip protection system fitted to most British Rail rolling stock in service in the 1980's. The system is specifically designed to simulate the wheel speed detection sensors from four wheels and test the anti lock up mechanism of the WSP unit. The system simulates various speed and acceleration / deceleration rates to provide a very comprehensive and accurate test in a far quicker time than the previous manual tests. Originally twenty one testers were built in the 1980's and today DTR systems are still supporting the remaining twelve units still in service with the various train companies. |
